Background

The Maunabo Groundwater Contamination Site is located in the municipality of Maunabo in the southeastern coastal area of Puerto Rico. The area is surrounded by mountains and the Caribbean Sea. The Maunabo Urbano public water system that serves the area consists of four supply wells.  The site consists of a groundwater plume contaminated with several chlorinated solvents.  EPA is investigated the contamination at the wells. The work includes efforts to locate the source(s) of the contamination.
