This additional BIL unding will help complete the cleanup of the nearby affected wetlands and the contaminated spill pathway soils and sediment, , known as Operable Unit 2 (OU-2). Excavation and treatment of soils and sediment, contaminated by historical industrial activities and large spills from the former chemical manufacturing plant, is expected to begin in 2026. There will be a public meeting and notice before this phase of cleanup begins. You can read more about the cleanup in the Record of Decision for OU-2.

The ROD for Operable Unit 4 (OU-4) will address contaminated groundwater at the site and will be publicly available in the upcoming months.
